In accordance with these findings, Congress recognizes the positive impact on the economy and added the Health Outcomes, Planning, and Education for Alzheimer's Act in the 2017 budget to support Alzheimer's research at the Nation Institute of Health.
The Hope for Alzheimer's Act is also proposed to congress and would require Medicare to pay for care planning sessions for patients and their caregivers. Other measures of the act would likely lead to early diagnosis and treatment, saving more than $692 million in federal spending and improving quality of life for Alzheimer's patients and their families.
